左雕右刻领风骚 ——任淦庭四方壶

江南壶圣

任淦庭（ 1889-1968 ），字缶硕，名干庭，号石溪、聋人、大聋、漱石、左腕道人、左民。紫砂陶刻名艺人。 1956 年被江苏省人民政府任命为技术辅导，即后来所称的七大艺人之一。 　　 任淦庭出身于世代书香之家，不幸家道中落，他只读过三年私塾，自幼喜爱书画，因家境困难，无钱购买笔墨纸张，时常以树枝作笔，席地而画。 15 岁就学于宜兴有名的陶刻画家卢兰芳（常为上海剧团画布景），满师后在吴德盛陶器公司雕刻作画谋生。吴德盛陶器公司的产品上常有署名“企陶”或“潜陶”的刻款，多为任淦庭所制。他幼年丧父、中年丧母，命运多舛。抗日战争爆发后，陶器行业日渐萧条，他无活可干，流落乡村，以卖画鬻字糊口。
<p>　　任淦庭酷爱书画，潜心研究紫砂雕刻技艺，他师承清代末年宜兴书画家、金石家陈懋生、陈研卿等人，特别注重写意笔墨的线描变化，讲究各体书法、文学诗词、辞章与短句，使陶刻装饰与紫砂的艺术风格和谐协调。他善于在各种紫砂茶具、花盆、鼎炉等陶坯上书画或雕刻山水、金石索、花卉、翎毛等，无不生动雅致。他雕刻的书法、笔力遒劲，铁划银钩，刀锋灵秀，真草隶篆，各具风格，尤以大篆和古隶见长，图画随意刻绘，自成章法，且左右手能同时书画雕刻，功夫独到，自成风格。特别是装饰成对紫砂花瓶，布局恰到舒坦，是他的独到绝活。 </p>
